Samsung CLX-3160FN – value for money 4-in-1 laser printer
With a price tag only slightly higher than that of a budget colour laser printer the Samsung CLX-3160Fn offers printing, scanning, copying and fax facilities all in one neat compact unit. It has a wide range of features for the price is also affordable in terms of running cost, Samsung CLX-3160FN toner cartridges yield only 1,000 pages for each of the three colours and 2,000 pages for the black giving them a cost per page of 2p and 10 for black and colour respectively. Remanufactured Samsung toner cartridges are also avaible for the clx-3160 which work out 50% cheaper than the original printer cartridges. The built in A4 sized flat-bed scanner and 50 sheet automatic paper feeder works well and make copying multiple sheet at once a doddle. At the front of the machine is a USB slot which not only enables you to save scanned documents and images USB drive but also enables printer directly from a compatible digital camera. Printing speeds for the clx-3160 are pretty good, black is better than colour with a speed 16ppm while colour is 4ppm. The printer has a relatively small paper tray capacity of 150 sheets and coupled with the fact that its not the fastest machine in the world leads to the conclusion that the clx-3160 isn’t designed for heavy duty work loads.
