More Ivy League Online Course Info

Ivy League courses are evolving. Keep checking around and looking at blogs and the school's web site for more information. They may go full swing into the distance learning mode in the near future.

For instance, Yale has announced that beginning in the 2007-08 academic year, they will offer digital video of taped lectures for free online. Again, these are not meant to be used towards a full degree, but you can get the benefit of the class experience.

In keeping with that trend, Harvard has made the same videotaped lectures available online for graduate and undergraduate credit. Not a full degree but a real nice experience nevertheless if you really WANT to try an Ivy League school.

The presidents of both schools have made statements about marrying information technology with education in a distance learning environment.

The long and short of it is that the application requirements will be the same as if you were applying in person, you really will need to have a great portion of your tuition on hand to attend the courses that are there online. Even then, I must emphasize, you will not have the option of taking a full degree online at an Ivy League institution: just the experience of hearing the material.

Adult learning is a sensitive issue to handle especially in the field of providing accurate knowledge, understanding with a practical approach. There are three basic things included in the adult learning namely; the motivation to learn, curriculum designing for adults, and things already known to them in the classroom. 5. Making the knowledge practical for usage and usable in life can be the biggest motivating source in life.

Curriculum Design

1. Studies reveal that adults are less interested in multiple concepts and theories at the same time; instead they prefer to be taught by a single concept and theory, heavily supported by examples.

2. To rotate the learning cycle of any adult learner, a tutor has to infuse new ideas into the existing concepts and theories.

3. Some people like contradicting older axioms and thus found pleasure in re-evaluation of the old well-established concepts and theories.

4. Some people give emphasis upon quick learning tips and techniques and unusual tasks to get the absolute fun.

5. Having a well-developed mentality sometimes can make a person stubborn and make it difficult to face the criticism in most people. Therefore, most people prefer tried methods in order to take fewer risks.

1. To maintain the interest in the classroom, emphasis must be given upon the physical as well as psychological comfort of adults. Short lectures, provisions of taking breaks, easier approaches and convenient environment are important.

2. Usually, adults have high self-esteem and ego that may clash while carrying out a lesson or lecture.

3. People with bad basic learning may develop a refrained feeling about classroom lecture.

4. The expectations of an adult learn is usually higher than a beginner. They expect to learn faster and become critical in case they failed to learn in the pre-decided time schedule.

5. The practical life experiences of adults vary a lot. They bring their experiences in the classroom to and apply their learning to evaluate their experiences.
